E705, technical inspection and DIV

Belgian formalities run more smoothly when the documents and vehicle data are complete before transport.

What is E705?

E705 is a free electronic signal allowing the DIV to verify that the vehicle is lawfully in Belgium. For an EU purchase, FPS Finance lists the invoice or contract, latest registration certificate and identification among the required documents.

Preregistration and inspection

A recent used EU vehicle with European type approval must be correctly declared, preregistered and presented for technical inspection for the standard digital registration route.

Check that the VIN, category, first-registration date and technical data match across all documents.

From application to number plate

After the required inspection, the insurer activates cover and submits the application through WebDIV where possible. The DIV processes the registration and supplies the certificate and plate.

A VIN error or missing document can delay the file; a structured checklist prevents avoidable hold-ups.
